If you were able to reach the final step of your journey in one motion, would you do it? Everything that you’ve ever wanted could come to you with the press of a button, and it is yours. Would you press it? As tempting as it may be, I would not decide to go that route knowing what I know now. Because I would constantly be on the chase for something else. Something more. I believe that life was intended to be a journey, filled with ups and downs. When you analyze your own personal journey and mistakes you’ve made along the way, you learn from them. You grow from them. It may suck at the moment, but you’re stronger because of it. Sometimes a bad step in your journey can feel as though its never ending. But it’s in those times when you really have to reach deep within, and embrace every step of your path. Let’s talk about it.

In 2014, I was forced to drop out of my sophomore year of college. I try not to dwell on the bad decisions made to get me to that point, but nonetheless it happened. I ended up not enrolling back in school until 2018. So from 2014 to 2018, I spent a lot of time trying to figure my life out. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, where I wanted to be, and it was honestly the roughest patch of my life. And though I was sad and possibly depressed in this moment, it also became the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I learned so much about myself. I began trying new things, and learning what I liked and didn’t. I ended up meeting people that became life long friends. And I’m forever grateful for that moment in my life. God truly humbled me and put me exactly where I needed to be.

As cliche as it might sound, I say all of these things because you cannot let one bad moment break you. Everything that you experience in life, happens for a reason. Our experiences define the uniqueness of our journey. I think its beautiful how we connect with people who are in different stages of their journey. I also feel that was intentional by God, so that we can help each other. Because I’m in a stage of my journey where I find fulfillment in helping others. But I also realize that every stage is temporary. It won’t last forever. And because of that, we must embrace every single step. So never get caught up in chasing the destination, when the journey is much more scenic.
