I find the most beautiful thing about discernment is the realization of what you’re doing is just a stepping stone in the path you are on. Let’s say you decided at the beginning of this year that you wanted to be a painter. You gather all of the necessary tools and brushes you’ll need to begin painting. You research and watch tutorials on how to become a better painter. And you even get in the habit of painting amazing beginner canvases. After a few months of painting consistently, your passion for painting begins to diminish. You still enjoy it, but not at the rate in which you first began. A lot of people may find frustration in that reality, because of the time wasted. But I think that this is the most amazing discovery that you can learn about yourself. You put your best foot forward and gave yourself a chance to learn something new. And you should take pride in that. Let’s talk about it.
One thing I’ve learned from my 28 years on this earth, is that the human race is very complex. We have a complex way of thinking, behaving, and feeling. Our moods shift quite frequently and by design, we never settle until we feel a sense of security or comfort. And that holds true even for the things we pursue in life. You will never truly be happy, until you find the thing that sets you on fire. There is something on this Earth, that will set you on fire. That will make you a better person. A fulfilled person. And the thought of that alone, should excite you.
You may or may not know what that thing is yet. And that is perfectly normal. To the ones that do know, I envy you greatly. But to the ones that don’t, I resonate with you greatly. My reason for posting this is personal to me. I enjoy blogging, but ultimately it’s just a stepping stone in the path I’m on. While I’ll still post regularly, it won’t be as frequent as before. And that’s okay. I’m currently working on a book that I feel really good about and hopefully I’ll be able to share that with you one day.
The thing about discernment is, it may take awhile to find what is truly for you. It may involve trying and failing at many different things, multiple times. But in those failures, let it propel you to the next stop in your journey. Don’t go backwards and don’t stop. If you keep chasing after it, it will eventually come to you.
